Hi. I like to watch videos and they inspire some of my creative work. I hope these ones will inspire you too.

Venice in a Day by Joerg Niggli

Venetian light is quite spectacular.

P.S. I can’t believe this was shot with a Canon G10.

Birth to 12 years old by Frans Hofmeester

How I feel about this video is pretty much summed up in this comment left on Hofmeester’s Vimeo page: “What a beautiful gift to your daughter.”

Yosemite HD by Project Yosemite

YOO-SEMMM-MEE-TEEE.

I’ve never been but the photographer part of me wants to go. After all, that’s where Ansel Adams captured his famous images.

People who have never been to YOO-SEMMM-MEE-TEEE (I really like saying it!) will enjoy this video. It films the national park over several days and nights. Parts of it look like the barren surface of the moon or a gray Grand Canyon. In the film, you get some idea how the park visitors interact with the environment (lots of rock climbers) and a clear view of the spectacular night sky.

AK-1 Columbia glacier by Extreme Ice Survey

Updated: Opps. I’ve lost the right to embed the video. Here is the direct link to Vimeo.

This is a time-lapse video showing the shrinkage of the Columbia glacier from 2007 to 2011. It is quite amazing to see how much of the ice has retreated in a space of just 4 years. This is one of the reasons why I chose to visit Alaska this year, just to catch a glimpse of something majestic and beautiful before it dies, and also why climate change remains one of the most important planetary issues mankind faces today.

One week in Japan by Mike Matas

I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to travel with this guy. I mean people traveling with me already get impatient with me when I stop for five minutes to take a couple of shots, but 4,000 shots? The cool thing is if you pause the video at any moment you’ll see a great shot every time.

He also did this a year ago when he took a trip to Morocco. And previous to that a trip to Nepal.

Comet Lovejoy by Stéphane Guisard

Amazing time lapse. I’m reminded that the earth is moving under our feet. Every single day.

Traffic in Frenetic HCMC, Vietnam by Rob Whitworth

It takes an incredibly patient soul to create this piece out of 10,000 images. And the result is completely worth it.
